GYM RULES
1. ACCESS & COACH OFFICE HOURS
Open Gym access is available 24/7 via key fob with certain restrictions noted below
No tailgating — each member must scan in individually when doors are locked
Do not lend or share your key-fob under any circumstances.
Open Gym is not permitted during Platinum Class hours (M-Th 9:45-10:45).
Portions of the gym may be off limits during cleaning Sundays 10am-12noon
Open Gym may be temporarily suspended for special events (Murph etc), holiday group workouts, seminars, or other unique circumstances, in which case ample notice will be provided
2. SELF-SUFFICIENCY REQUIREMENT
Members must be capable of selecting appropriate movements, loads, and progressions without coaching.
If you are unsure how to perform a movement safely, do not attempt it during Open Gym.
The gym reserves the right to restrict Open Gym access if a member is unable to train safely or independently.
Always remember to use spotters when appropriate, and train at your own risk.
3. NO COACHING / TRAINING OTHERS
We strongly encourage members to train together for camaraderie and accountability, but:
Members may not coach, instruct, program for, or train other members.
This includes:
Cueing or correcting movements
Writing workouts for others
Leading small groups
“Just helping a friend” with some money changing hands elsewhere
Personal training and small group training must be arranged through official gym channels.
If you are interested in leading Personal Training please contact Ownership for an outline of how to get started.
4. GUEST & CHILD POLICY
Guests are not permitted during Open Gym unless explicitly approved by the gym and a drop-in session is arranged in advance
Members may not bring friends, family, or non-members into the gym with the exception of children with the following requirements:
Kids must remain in Gym approved areas (member lounge) unless a Strand ticket or membership is purchased during Strand Adventures Staffed hours (15% discount off retail applies to all current Gym members)
Kids must remain off the gym floor and equipment
Kids must not present a nuisance to other members
If you bring your child, you must be ready to stop your workout to address any issue that would present a safety or nuisance to your child or other members. Be responsible for your kids when in the gym.
Lending a key-fob or allowing unauthorized access will result in immediate suspension of access.
We are strong proponents for family fitness - If you have a child in the 8-15 year old range who is interested in working out with you please contact ownership before signing up for a membership to ensure it will be a good fit for you.
5. EQUIPMENT USE & CARE
Treat all equipment with respect.
Chalk is a privilege and will be removed from the gym if excessive messes are made.
The bucket skirts are to keep chalk inside the bucket as opposed to a convenient place to set a large chunk.
Chalk your hands inside the skirt and leave everything else in the bucket.
Keep your area tidy – do not monopolize equipment or create elaborate workout scenarios that interfere with other people working out
Do not drop metal equipment (kettlebells, dumbbells, change plates, empty barbells). DB Heads can become loose over time with repetitive drops from as little as 1 foot.
Barbell drops with bumper plates should be kept to a minimum and only when appropriate.
Half of the lift is the eccentric. If you can’t put it down safely, think hard about how badly you need to pick it up in the first place.
Don’t drop a bar with only 10# bumper plates
You must clean all equipment you touched and return it to its proper place before leaving. This includes cardio machines. (Spray the towel, wipe the machine, in that order please)
Leave the gym cleaner than you found it.
6. MUSIC, LIGHTS & FACILITY ACCESS
Access is permitted in the gym and bathrooms only. Access to any other room or attraction in Strand Adventures is not permitted without proper ticket or membership.
The stereo will be left on at a conversational volume other than special occasions at the discretion of ownership. Use of headphones or bluetooth speaker is recommended for your personal music tastes as desired.
Personal bluetooth speakers are permitted but volume may not interfere with any other members’ workout and music lyrics and content must be appropriate for a family facility. The gym has one portable Bluetooth speaker for complimentary use by members. Please place it on the charger when you have finished using it.
Do not access the gym computer, stereo, or AV equipment at any time other than by direction from ownership.
If you are the first person in or the last person out – turn on/off the main gym lights using the switch with the red sticker on it behind the computer monitor. Hall lights will remain on 24/7.
Do not manipulate any other light switches, breakers, TVs, clocks or other electrical appliances unless directed by ownership.
Use personal timers (phones or provided clocks under stereo, and charge when complete) — do not use the wall clock unless directed by ownership.
Do not prop the back door for running workouts – you must take your key fob with you. This may be suspended temporarily when ownership is present.
Keep the door chains hung up during Strand Adventures Open Hours (9am-8pm daily)
Do not open the roll-up door unless authorized by ownership.
You may use the sleds in the parking lot but as with everything else, they must be put back exactly where they are stored.
7. SAFETY & EMERGENCIES
Train within your abilities - Always have a spotter present and lift at your own risk.
For emergencies, call 911 immediately, then inform ownership at earliest opportunity
After addressing safety, notify gym ownership as soon as possible.
Do not assume someone else will handle an emergency.
8. VIDEO MONITORING
The facility is monitored by 18 video cameras for safety and security, with a recording history for historical footage recovery.
By using Open Gym access, members consent to video monitoring.
Cameras are not located in private areas (bathrooms).
9. ENFORCEMENT
Failure to follow Open Gym policies will result in the following sequence of enforcement actions:
1. Verbal reminder
2. Written warning
3. Temporary suspension of access
4. Termination of membership (without refund)
Enforcement is applied consistently to protect the training environment for all members.
